frytopia: The Greenshoes ProjectDiscovering the music of webheads. Catalog!Recently I did a mix of my favorites for a friend in Australia. The idea was to introduce one another to music we each might like. And, just in case the RIAA is peeking in, yes, the idea is to then buy more of that music, so sod off. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to give and receive new music in this way. I've discovered a lot of favorite artists through just such exchanges. I thought why not exchange favorites with folks who already share an interest--the web. So here's the deal: I'll show you mine if you show me yours. More specifically, send me a mixed CD with your favorite music. And I do mean mixed--please don't copy off an entire CD and send it. That would be bad. In exchange, I'll send you a copy of the Greenshoes Mix AND another disk of your choosing from the catalog. But wait! There's more! When you send me your disk, I'll put it up here as part of the catalog. Then folks can choose to receive Greenshoes, or a mix from someone else. Want in, but can't make a mix or have already sent one? Send me a blank 700Mb disk in a case (slim case is fine) and tell me what you want. There are a couple of catches: you won't know what's on a disk until you receive it. No track listings here, though I may put up a flavor. If the auteur has a website, that will be listed in the catalog, and maybe give you some idea of what to expect. Also, I have no flippin' idea what I'm going to do if this gets wildly popular, but there are ways to manage. Stay tuned. Wanna do it? Sure ya do. When you send your CD, be sure to include a track list including song title, artist, and album. If you have a website, include the URL. And for heaven's sake, include your address. Send it to (For Shame! She's putting her address on the web!): Cat Connor I'll send you Greenshoes and your chosen mix as soon as I receive your disk. Show me what ya got. Questions? Email me. |
